St Andrew’s Hospital is one of South Australia’s largest private hospitals providing high quality personalized patient care.

Incorporated as a Church hospital in 1947, St Andrew’s Hospital now has over 200 beds at its facilities in Adelaide.

The Board and Staff of St Andrew’s have a commitment to continue to develop the hospital as a center of excellence. This involves a continuous re-evaluation of the functions, management and physical facilities of the hospital and its capacity to offer ongoing staff development and certificate level nursing programmes and courses.

In a recent major investment undertaking St Andrew’s has chosen TrakCare software from Trak Systems Pty Limited to replace an older existing patient administration system.

In selecting TrakCare, St Andrew’s will gain greater clinical and administrative functionality as well as advances in their patient billing procedures.

Implementation planning is now underway on site, with targeted live dates in February 2002.Additional system functionality will then expand to other areas such as the Emergency Department and Finance.

The Electronic Patient Record, which is the core of the TrakCare solution is a key focus area of the St Andrews implementation.

In preparation for the live dates, St Andrews Hospital has set up a computer training environment in the staff development centre for both familiarization and applications training.

Karen Smith, Director of Information Systems at St Andrews comments on the selection decision: "TrakCare was chosen by St Andrew’s Hospital because of the flexibility of the software and its ease of use. We expect that our staff will be able to manage the system without being reliant on specialist programmers. We like Trak’s strong customer focus. Their staff, at all levels make the effort to help. System specification and implementation planning is now complete and installation has begun at St Andrew’s Hospital.
